On the morning of July 18, 2024, Mr. Wan Xiangdong, Director of the CAAC East China Regional Administration, led a delegation to the TCab Tech Flight Test Center. The delegation included Mr. Jiang Huaiyu, former Director of the CAAC East China Regional Administration; Mr. Qin Gang, Director of the CAAC Zhejiang Supervision Bureau; and representatives from the General Aviation Department, Flight Standards Department, and Airworthiness Maintenance Department of the CAAC East China Regional Administration. Mr. Yon Wui NG, Founder and CEO of TCab Tech, provided a detailed overview of the company's research and test flight progress.
Officials from the CAAC East China Regional Administration observed the E20 eVTOL test flight on-site and held a seminar with TCab Tech for discussions.
During the seminar, TCab Tech’s R&D team provided a detailed report on the latest developments in the eVTOL industry, the Yangtze River Delta's benefits for the low-altitude economy, and the progress of E20 eVTOL's development and airworthiness efforts. Both parties engaged in thorough and productive discussions covering crucial topics such as E20 product development, manufacturing, delivery and operations, airworthiness standards, and the cultivation of a specialized talent pool.
Director Wan Xiangdong highlighted that eVTOL, as a future mode of air transportation, has vast application prospects. He encouraged TCab Tech to seize development opportunities, thoroughly optimize designs, adhere to high-quality safety standards, and create aviation products that meet public demand.
During the inspection, Director Wan Xiangdong commended TCab Tech for its remarkable research and development capabilities in the eVTOL sector, its rigorous standards for testing and validation, and its commitment to airworthiness safety. He also encouraged TCab Tech to continue enhancing its collaboration with the CAAC East China Regional Administration. He emphasized the importance of jointly exploring new avenues for eVTOL airworthiness certification and conducting tests in diverse environments and scenarios to support the industry's rapid advancement.
Looking back, since signing the "Safety Assurance Plan" with the CAAC East China Regional Administration in January 2022, TCab Tech has made significant strides in advancing eVTOL technology. In October 2023, the company reached a significant milestone by securing approval for the E20 eVTOL Type Certification (TC) application from the CAAC East China Regional Administration. To date, TCab Tech has trained several specialized airworthiness representatives and, with the CAAC's careful guidance, is rapidly accelerating the R&D and certification process for the E20 eVTOL.
Looking ahead, TCab Tech will continue to foster efficient communication with the CAAC, capitalize on its technological strengths, and drive ongoing innovation and expansion in the low-altitude sector. The company is dedicated to advancing a safer, more efficient, and environmentally friendly low-altitude transportation system.
